“I thought the curriculum was good, but I had no idea how great this program would be for me. I have a PhD and have attended many years of training programs. And this is by far the most high-impact course I’ve taken.”

FAQs

Common questions about our certification programs

Should I attend the 3-day Live Business Bootcamp for each course I complete?

If bundling multiple courses one after another, we recommend that you attend once after your first program.

If it has been a significant amount of time since you completed your previous certification and attended the 3-day Live Business Bootcamp, you are welcome to attend the bootcamp again as Cara is always updating the tools and content. Iin addition, you may find you approach the bootcamp differently the second time around (it’s always a great opportunity to ask new questions and absorb new ideas).

‍

What is the investment in SPCC?

Tuition varies based on payment plan which starts at $900/month for 3 months. We offer flexible financing options, bundling discounts and international pricing to support your professional development.

Is the certification internationally recognized?

Yes, our certification is accredited by leading global coaching organizations and recognized worldwide.

Will I learn about Artificial Intelligence in the SPCC certification program?

Yes, we discuss current topics like AI in career coaching during our cohort calls as well as during the live 3- Day Live Business Bootcamp.

Through the SPCC live cohort calls, we discuss different tools, some with an AI component, that can be helpful in job searches. We also frequently discuss the transparency and accessibility of AI to ensure coaches and their clients are using new tools ethically and effectively.

‍

When does the next SPCC cohort start and end?

The second cohort of 2026 officially begins on March 15th, 2026.

The 3-day Live Business Bootcamp for this cohort will be held on June 24-27, 2026 and is highly recommended upon graduation to help you launch your career coaching practice part-time or full-time.

If you are interested in career coaching, we highly recommend joining the upcoming cohort - even if you are busy, have vacations planned, etc - the IACC team will work with you to ensure you are able to get the most out of the program while still maintaining your schedule.

‍

Who are my instructors in the SPCC course?

There are three instructors for the SPCC course. There is one main instructor, a cohort facilitator, and a Capstone Project instructor. All instructors are well-vetted, qualified, have excellent credentials, and are overseen by Founding Instructor, Cara Heilmann.

How large are the SPCC cohorts?

The Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® cohorts typically are on average 10 participants, so we can ensure each student gets the individual support they need to succeed as a coach upon graduation.

Note that at some times of the year, the course size may exceed or be less than the average. We have successfully taught cohorts as large as 50 participants and will assign additional trainers to support a large cohort and ensure that you are well supported in your learning.

‍

Do I get to meet and interact with other participants?

Yes! The SPCC program requires that participants participate in weekly live cohort calls and are active members of the community discussions on the IACC’s online forum.

If you want to continue connecting with your instructors and the IACC community of coaches, we welcome you to join our community for graduates called The Path, and continue your learning and progress alongside a community of your peers.

‍

What happens if I miss a week of SPCC?

If you miss a week of the on-demand lessons or homework, you can catch up in a subsequent week.

If you miss a week of live cohort calls, you can watch the recording of one of the weekly calls and submit a summary to complete your weekly requirement on your own time.

If you need to defer, you are welcome to push your participation once, at no cost, to a later cohort to complete the course at a time that better suits your schedule. You are eligible to defer once. If you’re unable to complete the course on the second attempt, you will receive an “Incomplete” for the course.

Do I need to pass an exam to earn my SPCC certification?

There are three requirements to earn your Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification:

  1. Successfully submitted homework for 20+ modules. Each module teaches a specific skill. There is an assessment for specific modules to test your knowledge.
  2. Attend one weekly cohort call for 9 weeks - if you miss a week, you can watch the recording and submit a summary.
  3. Completion of a Capstone Project that consists of a first and second draft of your client’s CV/résumé and cover letter.

Once you have completed all three requirements, you are qualified to earn the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification, which is accredited by both the International Coaching Federation and (of course) the International Association of Career Coaches.

‍

How much of the SPCC course is on-demand vs live?

On average, you will have 30 minutes per week of on-demand video modules to watch asynchronously through our learning management platform. These 20+ learning modules are one element of the program and should rarely take more than an hour on any given week.

Participants must also attend one live 45-minute cohort call each week. The live calls are offered twice a week to accommodate most time zones and are facilitated by one of the IACC’s expert trainers.

Throughout the SPCC certification course, you will work with your own client to help reinforce what you’re learning. You will be required to connect with your client live online or in person in order to successfully complete all assignments, which are reviewed by your instructor.

Finally, the cherry on top of the SPCC program is the virtual 3-day Live Business Bootcamp event. During the 3-day live, we’ll give you step-by-step guidance on how to launch your practice, complete with your own business plan, marketing plan, and sales scripts to help you hit the ground running. This live event is optional, as not all participants plan to open a practice, but if there is a chance you “might” consider opening a practice one day, it is highly recommended.

‍

How much of the courses are theory vs hands-on learning?

The International Association of Career Coaches (IACC)® prides itself on offering the most practical certification training on the market.

In our Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®  certification program, we’re focused on helping you build the essential skills to excel in each respective discipline.

While you will learn some theory to understand the “why” behind each skill, our teaching methods are practical, with live feedback and support available from your instructor to help fine-tune your skills.

In both certification courses, you can expect to get:

  • Scripts
  • Toolkits
  • Templates
  • Sample Client Worksheets
  • Realtime feedback and practical client experience

‍

What is the time commitment for Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®?

The Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® program takes 5 hours a week on average for 11 weeks. The course is divided between self-paced online learning modules, live cohort calls, homework and practical hands-on learning as you coach your first pro bono - or paid - client. The course is designed so that you can reasonably complete the SPCC in 10 weeks, even while working full-time.

To celebrate the attainment of your SPCC certification, we highly recommend SPCC participants join the 3-day Live Business Bootcamp event, where you’ll learn everything you need to successfully launch your career coaching practice.

‍

Can you walk me through the SPCC curriculum?

Of course! Click here to watch your instructor walk you through the curriculum right in our learning platform.

How is the Senior Professional Career Coach certification program different from other career coaching courses available?

The Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification is designed by coaches, for coaches. We know how important practical knowledge and tools are for you as a career coach. Especially when starting out.

Career coaches who graduate from the SPCC program regularly comment on how practical and high-impact the course is. You’ll graduate with tools, templates, and frameworks you can begin using immediately to confidently take clients from identifying their dream jobs to negotiating job offers and everything in between.

Want to learn what past participants have to say? Visit our course page for participant reviews.

I’m interested in taking multiple courses from the IACC, where should I start?

The IACC has many courses suitable for first-time coaches. Including the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®, Senior Professional Résumé Writer (SPRW)™ or Senior Professional Resilience Coach (SPRC)™ certifications.

If you plan to take the SPCC and SPRW or SPRC, we recommend starting with SPCC to give you the best foundation possible before building on it with specialized courses.

‍

What is the minimum requirement to take SPCC?

We strongly recommend that those interested in the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification join the program with a post-secondary degree and several years of career experience; however, occasional exceptions will be made for exceptional qualifying field experience.

Can I use my SPCC certification to get my ACC with the ICF?

Yes, the SPCC program counts towards hours required to obtain the ICF ACC, PCC, and MCC. It also counts toward Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units which can be used to meet the required hours of recertification coach-specific education.

For more information about applying for your ICF credentials, please visit the ICF site.

‍

Is the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification accredited by the International Coaching Federation?

Yes. The SPCC certification is an International Coaching Federation-accredited career coaching course and counts towards your Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units. Proof of accreditation can be found here.
