FAQs

Common questions about our certification programs

How long does coaching take?

Coaching timelines vary based on your goals. Many people work with a coach for 2–3 months to navigate a transition, while others continue longer for ongoing growth and accountability. Your coach will help you determine a timeline that fits your needs and schedule.

What is the coaching process?

Coaching typically begins with understanding your goals and challenges, then building a plan to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. Sessions focus on reflection, strategy, accountability, and skill-building. Your coach will guide you with questions, tools, and frameworks—not just advice—to help you achieve results.

Can coaching be remote?

Yes, most career coaching is delivered remotely through video calls, email, and shared digital tools. Remote coaching is just as effective as in-person sessions and allows you to work with the best coach for your needs, no matter where they live.

What are coach certifications?

IACC-certified coaches may hold credentials such as Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC), Senior Professional Resilience Coach (SPRC), Senior Professional Résumé Writer (SPRW), or Master Professional Career Coach (MPCC).

Each certification represents specialized expertise, ensuring you’re working with a coach trained to deliver real, meaningful results that are tailored to your specific needs.

How do I choose a coach?

The best coach for you is someone who understands your goals, has the right training, and makes you feel supported and motivated. Start by reviewing their certifications, experience, and coaching approach. Most IACC-certified coaches offer a free consultation so you can see if it’s a good match.

The IACC also offers the “Find A Coach” service. Through this service we will pair you with three options of coaches who we think best suit your needs and goals. You can get started with “Find A Coach” by completing a short survey here.
