What happens if I miss a week of SPCC?
SPCC

If you miss a week of the on-demand lessons or homework, you can catch up in a subsequent week.

If you miss a week of live cohort calls, you can watch the recording of one of the weekly calls and submit a summary to complete your weekly requirement on your own time.

If you need to defer, you are welcome to push your participation once, at no cost, to a later cohort to complete the course at a time that better suits your schedule. You are eligible to defer once. If you’re unable to complete the course on the second attempt, you will receive an “Incomplete” for the course.

Do I need to pass an exam to earn my SPCC certification?
SPCC

There are three requirements to earn your Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification:

  1. Successfully submitted homework for 20+ modules. Each module teaches a specific skill. There is an assessment for specific modules to test your knowledge.
  2. Attend one weekly cohort call for 9 weeks - if you miss a week, you can watch the recording and submit a summary.
  3. Completion of a Capstone Project that consists of a first and second draft of your client’s CV/résumé and cover letter.

Once you have completed all three requirements, you are qualified to earn the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® certification, which is accredited by both the International Coaching Federation and (of course) the International Association of Career Coaches.

How much of the SPCC course is on-demand vs live?
Program Structure & Experience
SPCC

On average, you will have 30 minutes per week of on-demand video modules to watch asynchronously through our learning management platform. These 20+ learning modules are one element of the program and should rarely take more than an hour on any given week.

Participants must also attend one live 45-minute cohort call each week. The live calls are offered twice a week to accommodate most time zones and are facilitated by one of the IACC’s expert trainers.

Throughout the SPCC certification course, you will work with your own client to help reinforce what you’re learning. You will be required to connect with your client live online or in person in order to successfully complete all assignments, which are reviewed by your instructor.

Finally, the cherry on top of the SPCC program is the virtual 3-day Live Business Bootcamp event. During the 3-day live, we’ll give you step-by-step guidance on how to launch your practice, complete with your own business plan, marketing plan, and sales scripts to help you hit the ground running. This live event is optional, as not all participants plan to open a practice, but if there is a chance you “might” consider opening a practice one day, it is highly recommended.

How much of the courses are theory vs hands-on learning?
SPCC

The International Association of Career Coaches (IACC)® prides itself on offering the most practical certification training on the market.

In our Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®  certification program, we’re focused on helping you build the essential skills to excel in each respective discipline.

While you will learn some theory to understand the “why” behind each skill, our teaching methods are practical, with live feedback and support available from your instructor to help fine-tune your skills.

In both certification courses, you can expect to get:

  • Scripts
  • Toolkits
  • Templates
  • Sample Client Worksheets
  • Realtime feedback and practical client experience

What is the time commitment for Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®?
SPCC

The Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)® program takes 5 hours a week on average for 11 weeks. The course is divided between self-paced online learning modules, live cohort calls, homework and practical hands-on learning as you coach your first pro bono - or paid - client. The course is designed so that you can reasonably complete the SPCC in 10 weeks, even while working full-time.

To celebrate the attainment of your SPCC certification, we highly recommend SPCC participants join the 3-day Live Business Bootcamp event, where you’ll learn everything you need to successfully launch your career coaching practice.

I’m interested in taking multiple courses from the IACC, where should I start?
SPCC

The IACC has many courses suitable for first-time coaches. Including the Senior Professional Career Coach (SPCC)®, Senior Professional Résumé Writer (SPRW)™ or Senior Professional Resilience Coach (SPRC)™ certifications.

If you plan to take the SPCC and SPRW or SPRC, we recommend starting with SPCC to give you the best foundation possible before building on it with specialized courses.
